ABOUT / TEAM
Tim Davis Design is a Canadian design practice based in the capital city of Ottawa. The practice is involved in design for commercial and high-end residential interiors, small architecture, architectural millwork, custom furniture and gardens, as well as graphic design and photography.
Design work by Tim Davis Design can be seen in such Ottawa locations as the National Gallery of Canada (where the practice has been involved with more than 80 projects to date), Rideau Centre, Bayshore Mall, the Chateau Laurier Hotel, and the Royal Ottawa Hospital. Past and present clients include The Ottawa Hospital, the YMCA-YWCA National Capital Region, Rogers Television, CTV, TD-Canada Trust, and international companies such as Pacnet Services.
In addition to work in Ottawa, Tim Davis Design has undertaken projects in various locations across Canada, in a number of states in the USA, and in various European locations in England, Ireland, France, and Malta. Other projects have been undertaken in South Africa and Georgia in the former Soviet Union. Please refer to the “project locations” page for details.
Tim Davis Design is dedicated to a high level of customer service and to meeting clients’ expectations in terms of design quality, budget and time restraints. The practice is pleased to offer services in both Canadian official languages and also has capabilities in Spanish, Russian, Hebrew and Farsi (Persian).
Tim Davis founded the practice in Ottawa, Canada in 1995. Originally from England, where he trained with Backhouse Design Consultants in Liverpool, Tim is a member of the Royal Institute of British Architects and the Institution of Structural Engineers. He has over thirty years of design and construction industry experience. He has taught at both universities in Liverpool and on the Interior Design program at Algonquin College, Ottawa. Tim is a former board member of the Ottawa School of Art and is a member of the advisory committee to the Interior Design degree program at Algonquin College.Read more
Julia Duncan is a graduate of the Interior Design diploma program at Algonquin College, Ottawa and is Registered Interior Designer in Ontario. She has responsibility for all aspects of projects including clientliaison. Julia’s high energy and exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills make her an invaluable member of the team. Julia has experience of working on projects in Canada, the US and Europe.Read more
Graphic Design Associate
Graphic design services are provided in association with Anna Odeh of Anna Odeh Design. Anna has graphic design diplomas from both Algonquin College, Ottawa, and Mihlala le Minhal College, Israel, and isfluent in English, Russian and Hebrew. Her portfolio may be seen at:
Originally from Venezuela, Cristina is a graduate of the 5-year architecture program at the Simon Bolivar University, Caracas. In addition to her general design skills, Cristina has a particular interest in furniture designand repurposing from an eco-friendly stand-point, and is fluent in English and Spanish.Read more
Negin Sabet is a graduate of the interior design degree program at Algonquin College, Ottawa. Negin joined the practice after graduation in 2014 and is fluently bilingual in English and Farsi (Persian).
Isabelle Gauthier is a Montreal based Associate with a specialization in lighting design which she has developed through her work with Au Courant Luminaires in Montreal. Fluently bilingual, Isabelle is aninterior design graduate of the CEGEP Marie-Victorin in Montreal and has also completed the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America course in lighting design.Read more
Alan Todd, former Chief of Design at the National Gallery of Canada, is a senior consultant to the practice. With a background in industrial and graphic design, Alan has a vast experience in exhibit,gallery, museum and international trade fair design. A committed environmentalist, Alan brings not only his additional skillsets but also his huge creative energy and unique perspectives to the practice.Read more
Rick Pella, formerly a Senior Project Manager with Agriculture Canada, is a senior consultant to the practice. Rick has considerable experience with government based projects and protocols and has special expertise in thearea of rehabilitation of heritage buildings and special use spaces.Read more
From 1979-2013 Claude Lavoie was the owner of Gaston Lavoie Cabinet Shop Ltd, an architectural millwork manufacturing company established in 1946 by Claude’s father Gaston Lavoie. Claude’s strength liesin his expertise in manufacturing and finishing techniques, providing solutions to achieve complex projects. High profile buildings in the National Capital Region buildings which have benifitted from Claude’s particular expertise include the War Museum, the Aviation Museum, several National Security buildings, the new Ottawa Convention Centre, various hospitals, Carleton and Ottawa Universities, and over 200 learning institutions.Read more
